German Shepherd Care in India

A German Shepherd is a working dog that needs a job. In an Indian flat with two short walks, it becomes anxious and destructive.

Heat management

A double coat needs raking, never shaving. Early and late walks, and shade with airflow through the day.

Joints

Hip and elbow dysplasia are common. Keep growing puppies lean, avoid stairs and jumping before growth plates close, and buy only from breeders who screen and share scores.

Exercise and work

90 minutes or more, plus training or scent work daily. Mental work is not optional for this breed.

Training and socialisation

Naturally protective and wary. Early, broad socialisation is what separates a stable guardian from a reactive liability.
