The socialisation window closes around sixteen weeks — before the vaccination course finishes. Waiting until full protection means missing it entirely, and under-socialisation causes more behavioural euthanasia than infection does deaths.
Carry, do not walk
Take the puppy out in your arms or a sling. It sees traffic, crowds, cows, autos and noise without its paws touching contaminated ground.
Invite the world in
Have visitors of different ages and appearances come home. Vaccinated, healthy adult dogs can visit and are the best teachers of dog manners.
Surfaces and sounds at home
Walk the puppy over tiles, mats, metal sheet and grass in your own space. Play recordings of fireworks and thunder quietly, paired with food.
What to avoid
Public parks, streets where street dogs toilet, pet shop floors, and any ground where unvaccinated dogs go.
