Composition & Pharmacological Mechanism

• Active Ingredient: Propoxur IP 1% w/w.

• Base: Fine, free-flowing dusting powder carrier enriched with a pleasant fragrance.

• Drug Class: Carbamate Insecticide / Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) Inhibitor.

• Mode of Action: Acetylcholinesterase is the vital enzyme that terminates neural signaling by breaking down acetylcholine at synapse junctions. Propoxur competitively inhibits this enzyme in ticks and fleas. As acetylcholine accumulates uncontrolled in nerve junctions, the parasites experience continuous neuromuscular excitation, spasms, paralysis, and death within hours of contact.

Directions for Use & Application Protocol

1. Groom First: Brush or comb the coat before application to remove loose dirt and tangles, allowing the powder to reach the skin.

2. Apply Against Hair Growth: Dust the powder lightly over your pet's body, gently rubbing against the natural lay of the coat so it reaches the epidermal surface where ticks attach.

3. Head-to-Tail Coverage: Cover the neck, chest, back, belly, groin, legs, and between the toes. Avoid the face, eyes, nostrils, and mouth.

4. Prevent Ingestion (Important): Prevent your pet from licking the treated areas for 30 minutes post-application. Supervise closely or use an Elizabethan collar until settled.

5. Bedding Treatment: Dust lightly over the pet's sleeping mat, kennel floor, or crate base. Allow it to sit for 15–20 minutes, then shake off the excess.

6. Wash Hands: Always wash hands with soap and water after handling.

Recommended Application Frequency

• Routine Preventive Care: Apply once weekly during peak tick and flea periods.

• Heavy / Acute Infestations: Apply 2 to 3 times per week until the active infestation resolves.

• Puppies & Kittens (<8 weeks): Administer as directed by your veterinary practitioner.

Safety Warnings & Precautions

• Licking Caution: Propoxur 1% is well-tolerated on skin, but ingestion must be strictly prevented. If excessive accidental ingestion occurs (excessive salivation, tremors, vomiting), seek veterinary attention immediately.

• Broken Skin: Do not apply on open cuts, raw abrasions, or severe ulcerative lesions.
