Clinical Otological Indications

• Treatment of acute otitis externa in canines.

• Acute exacerbations of recurrent or chronic allergic otitis externa associated with bacteria susceptible to gentamicin and fungi susceptible to miconazole (notably Malassezia pachydermatis).

• Relief of clinical otic symptoms: severe aural pruritus, head tilt/head shaking, foul yeasty ceruminous discharge, canal erythema, and inflammatory stenosis.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

For auricular (ear canal) use only under direct veterinary direction:

• Standard Dosage Protocol:

  • 1 ml (exactly ONE pump activation) into each affected ear once daily for 5 consecutive days.

  • The dose is identical for all canine breeds and weights (from Toy Chihuahuas to Giant Great Danes).

• Step-by-Step Application Instructions:

  1. Pre-Treatment Cleaning: Prior to the first administration, gently clean the external ear canal with a gentle veterinary ear cleanser and remove loose cerumen and discharge. Dry the canal thoroughly before applying medication.

  2. Prime the Pump: On first use, shake the bottle thoroughly and prime the airless pump by depressing it 1–2 times until medication flows smoothly.

  3. Insertion: Gently insert the soft, atraumatic cannula into the external ear canal opening.

  4. Dispense: Depress the pump once completely to deliver exactly 1 ml of suspension. The airless mechanism dispenses accurately even when the bottle is held upside down or horizontally.

  5. Massage: Gently massage the base of the ear canal for 15 to 30 seconds to distribute the suspension through the horizontal canal and tympanic margin.

  6. Duration: Continue once daily for 5 consecutive days, without skipping doses.

Safety Warnings, Precautions & Contraindications

• Tympanic Membrane Evaluation (MANDATORY): Before instilling Easotic, a veterinarian must examine the ear with an otoscope to confirm that the tympanic membrane (eardrum) is intact. Do not use in dogs with suspected or confirmed tympanic perforation, as aminoglycosides like gentamicin carry a risk of ototoxicity if introduced directly into the middle/inner ear.

• Contraindications: Do not administer in animals with known hypersensitivity to corticosteroids, azoles, or aminoglycosides.

• Adverse Reactions: In rare cases, temporary hearing impairment or local redness may occur. If signs of vestibulocochlear dysfunction (head tilt, nystagmus, ataxia) develop, discontinue treatment and consult your veterinarian immediately.
