Active Formulation & Mode of Action

• Active Ingredient: Propoxur 0.1% w/v (1 mg per ml).

• Drug Class: Carbamate Insecticide / Ectoparasiticide.

• Mechanism of Action: Propoxur reversibly inhibits the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE) in insects and arachnids. This causes an accumulation of acetylcholine at neuromuscular junctions, resulting in rapid paralysis and death of ticks, fleas, and lice upon topical contact.

Directions for Use & Bathing Protocol

1. Wet the Coat: Thoroughly wet your pet's entire coat with lukewarm water from head to tail (avoiding the eyes, ears, and nose).

2. Apply & Lather: Apply an adequate amount of Extick shampoo along the spine, neck, legs, and underbelly. Work into a rich lather, massaging deep into the skin folds where ticks commonly hide (between paws, behind ears, under neck folds).

3. Wait 3 Minutes (Crucial): Allow the lather to remain on the coat for at least 3 minutes before rinsing. This contact duration is required for the insecticidal agent to neutralize stubborn ticks and fleas.

4. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the coat with plenty of clean water until all soap lather and dead parasites are washed away.

5. Dry & Comb: Towel dry or blow-dry on a cool setting. Comb through the coat with a fine-toothed flea comb to easily remove detached, dead ticks and debris.

6. Frequency: Use once a week during active infestations, or once every 2 weeks for ongoing preventive maintenance as advised by your vet.
