Uses

Petcare Petben may be used as part of veterinary skin-care management for:

• Pyoderma and certain superficial bacterial-associated skin conditions

• Folliculitis

• Seborrheic and excessively greasy skin

• Acne and follicular skin problems

• Excess accumulation of sebum, dirt and skin debris

How It Works

Benzoyl Peroxide provides a follicular cleansing action that helps loosen and remove accumulated oil, debris and cellular material from the hair follicles. This can be particularly useful when excessive sebum or follicular blockage is contributing to a skin problem.

Directions for Use

1. Wet the animal's coat thoroughly with lukewarm water.

2. Apply an adequate quantity of shampoo to the coat and skin.

3. Massage gently so that the shampoo reaches the skin and affected areas.

4. Allow the product to remain in contact with the skin for approximately 5–10 minutes, unless the product label or veterinarian advises otherwise.

5. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.

6. Frequency of application should be based on the animal's skin condition and veterinary recommendation. A commonly recommended initial frequency may be 2–3 applications per week, followed by adjustment according to response.

Precautions

• For external use only.

• Avoid contact with eyes, mouth and other sensitive mucosal surfaces.

• Prevent the animal from licking or ingesting the product.

• Benzoyl Peroxide may cause dryness or local irritation in some animals.

• If marked redness, irritation or discomfort develops, stop use and consult a veterinarian.

• Take additional care when applying to severely inflamed, ulcerated or damaged skin.

• Keep away from children.

• Store in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight.

• Keep the container properly closed when not in use.

Possible Side Effects

Some animals may develop temporary:

• Skin dryness

• Mild redness

• Local irritation

• Increased skin sensitivity

If the animal develops significant swelling, hives, severe irritation, breathing difficulty or other signs of a serious reaction, discontinue use and seek veterinary attention promptly.

Veterinary Guidance

Skin disease can have multiple causes, including bacterial, fungal, parasitic, allergic and hormonal disorders. Benzoyl Peroxide shampoo may be useful as part of treatment for selected conditions, but the underlying cause should be evaluated when disease is persistent, recurrent or severe.
