Active Composition & Mechanism of Action

• Active Ingredient: Mupirocin IP 2% w/w.

• Therapeutic Class: Topical Antibacterial / Dermatological Wound Care.

• Mode of Action: Mupirocin reversibly and selectively binds to the bacterial enzyme isoleucyl-transfer-RNA synthetase. This prevents the incorporation of isoleucine into peptide chains, completely halting bacterial protein and RNA synthesis. Due to its unique chemical structure, it exhibits no significant cross-resistance with other major antibiotic families (e.g., penicillin, cephalosporins, tetracyclines).

Application & Directions for Use

1. Prepare the Site: Gently clean the affected area with mild saline or antiseptic wash and pat completely dry with sterile gauze.

2. Apply Ointment: Squeeze a sufficient amount of Mupropet to apply a thin, complete film over the lesion.

3. Frequency: Apply twice daily (every 12 hours) or strictly as directed by your veterinarian.

4. Duration: Treatment should typically continue until clinical signs have cleared, but should not exceed 30 consecutive days.

5. Prevent Licking: Prevent your pet from licking the area for 10–15 minutes post-application (use an Elizabethan collar or recovery cone if necessary) to ensure complete topical absorption.
