Clinical Indications

• Management and treatment of mild, moderate, or severe Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) in dogs (ACVIM Stages C and D).

• Preclinical Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD) / atrioventricular valve insufficiency with active cardiomegaly (ACVIM Stage B2).

• Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) in both occult and clinical phases.

• Treatment of CHF associated with pre-existing systemic hypotension or secondary to acute-on-chronic renal compromise under close veterinary monitoring.

• Alleviation of secondary cardiac symptoms including nocturnal coughing, pulmonary edema, lethargy, and exercise intolerance.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer orally twice daily (roughly every 12 hours) strictly as directed by your veterinarian:

• Target Therapeutic Dose: 0.2 mg to 0.6 mg Pimobendan per kg body weight per day, divided into two equal doses spaced 12 hours apart (standard target is 0.25 mg/kg every 12 hours).

• CRITICAL TIMING - Empty Stomach Administration:

  • Administer at least 1 hour before feeding, or 2 hours after a meal.

  • Clinical Rationale: Co-administration with food significantly decreases oral bioavailability. Administering on an empty stomach ensures optimal blood absorption and maximal therapeutic efficacy.

• Administration Instructions:

  • Give directly by hand as a chewable treat or place gently onto the back of the tongue.

  • If the dog is resistant, conceal the tablet in a tiny bite of low-sodium food (e.g., a small piece of bread or plain boiled chicken), avoiding large meals around dosing time.
