Active Composition & Mode of Action

• Active Ingredient: Doxycycline Hyclate IP equivalent to Doxycycline 100 mg per tablet.

• Drug Class: Tetracycline class (Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic).

• Mode of Action: Doxycycline reversibly binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit of microbial cells, preventing the attachment of aminoacyl-tRNA to the ribosomal acceptor site. This halts bacterial protein synthesis, providing bacteriostatic action that clears intracellular and extracellular pathogens.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer strictly according to your veterinarian's prescription and instructions.

• Typical Dosage Range:

  • General Infections: 5 mg to 10 mg per kg body weight administered orally every 12 to 24 hours.

  • Tick Fever (Ehrlichiosis): Typically 10 mg/kg once daily (or 5 mg/kg twice daily) for a complete course of 28 consecutive days to prevent relapse and carrier states.

• Administration Precaution (Esophageal Protection): Always administer Doxycycline with a moist treat or follow with a small syringe of water (or a full meal). In cats and small dogs, "dry pilling" tetracyclines can cause the tablet to lodge in the esophagus, resulting in severe esophagitis or strictures.

• Interaction Caution: Do not administer concurrently with oral antacids, calcium supplements, milk/dairy products, or iron supplements, as multi-valent cations bind doxycycline and reduce its absorption.
