Active Composition & Mechanism of Action

• Active Ingredient: Doxycycline Hyclate IP equivalent to Doxycycline 300 mg per tablet.

• Drug Class: Tetracycline Antibiotic (Broad-Spectrum).

• Mode of Action: Doxycycline enters bacterial cells and reversibly binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing aminoacyl-tRNA from accessing the ribosomal mRNA complex. This halts bacterial protein synthesis, providing bacteriostatic action that clears both active and intracellular pathogens.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer strictly according to your veterinarian's prescription.

• Typical Clinical Dosage:

  • Tick-Borne Infections (Ehrlichiosis): Usually 10 mg per kg body weight once daily (or 5 mg/kg twice daily) for a complete course of 28 consecutive days to prevent relapse or chronic carrier status.

  • Respiratory & General Bacterial Infections: 5 mg to 10 mg/kg every 12 to 24 hours as directed by the treating vet.

• Important Administration Instructions:

  • Prevent Esophagitis: Never dry-pill. Always give the tablet with a moist meal or ensure your dog drinks water immediately after swallowing to prevent the tablet from lodging in the esophagus.

  • Avoid Mineral Chelators: Do not administer with milk, cheese, calcium/iron supplements, or antacids, as minerals bind doxycycline and significantly decrease absorption.
