Active Composition & Mechanism of Action

• Active Ingredient: Grapiprant 100 mg per tablet.

• Pharmacological Class: Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) / Prostaglandin EP4 Receptor Antagonist (PRA).

• Mode of Action: Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) binds to four distinct receptors (EP1, EP2, EP3, and EP4). The EP4 receptor is specifically responsible for mediating inflammatory joint pain and hypersensitivity in canine osteoarthritis. Grapiprant selectively antagonizes the EP4 receptor, directly preventing pain signaling without interrupting COX-mediated synthesis of homeostatic prostaglandins that protect the stomach lining, kidneys, and liver.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer strictly according to your veterinarian’s weight-based calculation and prescription.

• Target Dosage: Standard dose is approximately 2 mg per kg of body weight, administered once daily.

• Dosing Guide (Guide Only):

  • Dogs around 25 kg: One 100mg tablet once daily.

  • Larger dogs (>25 kg): Dosed by your vet using appropriate tablet combinations.

  • Smaller dogs (<20 kg): Require lower strengths or vet-specified splitting; do not guess.

• Timing & Meals: Administer once daily at the same time each day. Can be given with or without food (if gastrointestinal sensitivity occurs, some vets recommend giving it an hour before or two hours after meals).
