Clinical Indications

• Management of hyperphosphatemia in dogs and cats with Chronic Kidney Disease (IRIS CKD Stages 2, 3, and 4).

• Prevention and therapeutic management of Renal Secondary Hyperparathyroidism.

• Reduction of elevated serum phosphorus prior to starting calcitriol or vitamin D therapy.

• Adjunct therapy for acute renal failure or anuric/oliguric phases with marked phosphorus retention.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer strictly according to your veterinarian’s written prescription and blood test evaluations.

• General Base Dosing: 2 level scoops per 5 kg body weight per day (divided equally among daily meals).

• Crucial Administration Rule: Phos-Clear must always be given with food. Divide the total daily dose evenly across all meals. If your pet eats twice a day, split the dose in half; if they eat three times, split into thirds.

• Mixing Instructions: Thoroughly stir the measured powder into wet food, canned renal diet, or a small spoonful of appetizing puree just before feeding.

Safety Warnings, Precautions & Storage

• For animal / veterinary oral administration only. Not for human use.

• Must be Given With Meals: Giving phosphate binders on an empty stomach is ineffective because the primary mechanism is trapping phosphorus contained in food.

• Routine Serum Monitoring: Re-check serum phosphorus, calcium, and renal parameters every 2 to 4 weeks after initiating therapy to adjust dosing appropriately once target phosphorus levels (typically 3.5 – 5.5 mg/dL depending on IRIS stage) are reached.

• Potential Constipation: Aluminium hydroxide can occasionally cause mild constipation. Ensure adequate hydration and wet food feeding.

• Drug Interactions: Administer other oral medications (such as antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, or iron supplements) at least 1 to 2 hours before or after feeding Phos-Clear, as aluminium can bind and reduce their absorption.

• Storage: Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep the container tightly closed to protect the powder from ambient moisture. Keep out of reach of children and household pets.
