Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer strictly in accordance with veterinary prescription and clinical staging (ACVIM stage B2, C, or D heart failure).

• Standard Administration Schedule:

  • Administer orally twice daily (BID), at 12-hour intervals.

  • Timing Requirement: Give 1 hour prior to feeding on an empty stomach. The presence of food significantly reduces the systemic oral bioavailability of pimobendan.

• Available Formulations & Strengths:

  • Pimoben 1.25 / 2.5 mg: (1.25 mg Pimobendan + 2.5 mg Benazepril HCl) — suited for small and medium-breed dogs.

  • Pimoben 5 / 10 mg: (5 mg Pimobendan + 10 mg Benazepril HCl) — calibrated for large and giant breeds.

• Administration Tips:

  • Offer the tablet directly into the mouth 60 minutes before morning and evening meals.

  • If your pet is difficult to dose, use a very small bite of a low-sodium treat to conceal the tablet, avoiding heavy or fatty meal portions.

• Contraindications: Do not use in cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathies, aortic stenosis, or clinical conditions where an augmentation of cardiac output is not mechanically feasible due to anatomical obstructions.

• Empty Stomach Administration: Bioavailability of Pimobendan drops substantially when administered concurrently with food. Maintain the 1-hour pre-meal interval.
