• Active Ingredient: Toceranib Phosphate equivalent to 50 mg Toceranib base per tablet.

• Molecular Mechanism: Many canine mast cell tumors harbor activating mutations in the proto-oncogene c-KIT, leading to ligand-independent phosphorylation and continuous cellular replication. Tocerapet binds to the intracellular ATP-binding pocket of KIT and related receptors, deactivating downstream phosphorylation pathways (MAPK, Akt/mTOR). Furthermore, by neutralizing endothelial VEGFR-2 and pericyte PDGFR-β receptors, it blocks tumor neo-vascularization, shrinking existing tumor mass and inhibiting distant metastases.

• Typical Clinical Dosage Protocol:

  • The labeled starting dose is 3.25 mg per kg body weight administered orally every other day (every 48 hours), or as modified by the veterinary oncologist (many oncologists utilize 2.4 mg to 2.75 mg/kg Monday-Wednesday-Friday protocols based on tolerance).

• Administration & Handling Rules:

  • Administer with or without food. Feeding alongside a small meal helps minimize gastrointestinal nausea.

  • DO NOT CRUSH, SPLIT, OR CHEW TABLETS. The film coating prevents direct contact with the chemotherapy drug.
