Directions for Use & Ear Cleaning Protocol

For topical otic instillation in dogs and cats only:

Step-by-Step Administration:

1. Initial Inspection: Check the ear canal. If you suspect an eardrum rupture (indicated by head tilt, loss of balance, or bleeding), have a veterinarian inspect the ear with an otoscope before use.

2. Instillation: Gently hold the ear flap (pinna) upward to straighten the natural bend of the canal. Instill 2 to 4 drops into the canal (or 4 to 6 drops for large dogs with heavy wax).

3. Canal Base Massage: Continue holding the pinna and gently massage the base of the ear (the firm cartilage just below the ear opening) for 60 to 90 seconds. You will hear a squishing sound as the solution breaks apart the deep wax plug.

4. Natural Head Shake: Release the ear flap and allow your pet to shake their head. This natural reflex expels the dissolved wax and fluid toward the outer ear opening.

5. Wipe Clean: Use a clean cotton pad or gauze to wipe away the expelled wax and moisture from the outer ear flap. Do not insert cotton buds (Q-tips) down into the ear canal, as this can push wax deeper or injure the eardrum.

6. Pre-Medication Timing: If applying prescribed antibiotic drops (such as Intas Pomisol), wait 15 to 20 minutes after using Oridot so the canal is clean and dry.

• Usage Frequency:

  • For Heavy Wax Buildup: Use once daily for 2 to 3 consecutive days until the canal is clear.

  • For Routine Ear Maintenance: Use once every 1 to 2 weeks, or as recommended by your veterinarian.

Safety Warnings, Precautions & Storage

• Intact Tympanic Membrane Caution: Do not use in pets with a known or suspected perforated eardrum. If your pet exhibits sudden vestibular symptoms (head tilt, circling, stumbling) or bloody discharge, discontinue use and consult a veterinarian immediately.

• Topical Otic Use Only: Formulated exclusively for the ears. Avoid contact with eyes, nose, and mouth. If accidental contact with eyes occurs, flush thoroughly with clean water.

• No Deep Probing: Never force cotton buds or instruments deep into the ear canal.
