Active Composition & Mechanism of Action

• Active Ingredient: Ondansetron Hydrochloride IP equivalent to Ondansetron 2 mg per 5 ml.

• Pharmacological Class: Selective Serotonin 5-HT3 Receptor Antagonist (Antiemetic).

• Mode of Action: Serotonin released from enterochromaffin cells in the gut stimulates vagal nerve afferents, triggering the vomiting reflex in the vomiting center of the brain. Ondansetron selectively and competitively blocks 5-HT3 receptors both peripherally on vagal nerve terminals and centrally in the Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone (CTZ), stopping nausea and emesis at the source.

Clinical Indications

• Nausea and persistent vomiting associated with acute gastroenteritis and stomach upsets.

• Travel-induced motion sickness and car nausea in dogs and cats.

• Emesis and nausea secondary to chemotherapy, radiation, or intense drug therapies.

• Post-surgical nausea following general anesthesia.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer strictly according to your veterinarian’s prescription. Measure precisely using an oral syringe or graduated dropper.

• Dosage: There is no universal home dose; dosing is precisely calculated by your veterinarian based on your pet’s exact body weight, condition, and underlying cause (typically ranges from 0.1 mg/kg to 0.2 mg/kg per dose).

• Motion Sickness Administration: When used for travel nausea, administer the prescribed dose 30 to 60 minutes before travel begins.

• Method: Administer directly into the side/pocket of the mouth. If given for dietary upset, pair with a temporary rest from heavy food followed by bland, light meals (such as boiled chicken and rice broth) once the pet is able to retain water.
