Clinical Indications

• Urogenital Tract Infections: Acute and recurrent bacterial cystitis, pyelonephritis, and prostatitis (E. coli, Proteus, Klebsiella).

• Skin & Soft Tissue Infections: Deep and superficial pyoderma, furunculosis, cellulitis, infected abscesses, and post-traumatic wound infections (Staphylococcus pseudintermedius, Pasteurella).

• Respiratory Tract Infections: Bacterial tracheobronchitis, complex kennel cough, and bronchopneumonia (Bordetella bronchiseptica, Klebsiella spp.).

• Alimentary Tract Infections: Severe bacterial enteritis, gastroenteritis, and dysentery (E. coli, Salmonella).

• Otic Infections: Chronic and secondary bacterial otitis externa and media (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus spp.).

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer orally once daily (or divided twice daily) strictly as directed by your veterinarian based on clinical evaluation or culture/sensitivity testing:

• Standard Therapeutic Dosage Rate: 5 mg Enrofloxacin per kg body weight once daily (can be adjusted up to 10–20 mg/kg once daily for severe tissue or Pseudomonas infections under veterinary guidance) .

• Standard Duration: Typically administered for 5 to 10 consecutive days, or continuing 2 to 3 days after complete resolution of clinical signs .

• Administration Instructions:

  • Can be offered directly by hand as a chewable treat or crumbled into a small portion of daily food .

  • Avoid Multivalent Cation Interactions: Do not administer concurrently with milk, dairy products, sucralfate, or calcium/iron supplements, as these bind enrofloxacin and reduce its gastrointestinal absorption . Administer at least 2 hours apart .

  • Complete the Prescribed Course: Always complete the full course prescribed by your veterinarian . Never discontinue early upon visible symptom improvement, as premature cessation promotes bacterial relapse and antibiotic resistance .

Safety Warnings, Precautions & Storage

• GROWING PUPPIES & KITTENS WARNING: Contraindicated in growing puppies and young kittens. Fluoroquinolones can cause articular cartilage erosion and permanent joint arthropathy in weight-bearing joints during rapid growth phases .

  • Do not use in small/medium breed dogs under 8–12 months of age.

  • Do not use in large/giant breed dogs under 18 months of age.

  • Do not use in kittens under 8 weeks of age.

• FELINE RETINAL PRECAUTION: Strictly do not exceed 5 mg/kg per day in cats. Excessive enrofloxacin doses in felines can induce acute, irreversible retinal degeneration and blindness . Use the 50 mg variant for cats to ensure precise dosing .

• CNS & Epilepsy Precaution: Use with caution in pets with pre-existing seizure disorders or central nervous system trauma, as fluoroquinolones may lower the seizure threshold.

• Pregnancy & Lactation: Safety has not been established in pregnant or lactating animals; use only when veterinary evaluation determines benefits outweigh potential risks .
