Clinical Indications

• Dental & Oral Cavity Infections: Periodontitis, gingivitis, alveolar bone abscesses, stomatitis, infected mouth ulcers, and peri-operative antimicrobial coverage for dental scaling/extractions.

• Skeletal & Joint Infections: Acute and chronic osteomyelitis caused by Staphylococcus aureus, septic arthritis, and post-surgical orthopedic infection management.

• Dermatology & Soft Tissue: Deep pyoderma, interdigital furunculosis, infected puncture wounds, bite lacerations, and purulent abscesses (Staphylococcus pseudintermedius).

• Protozoal Infections: Clinical management of feline Toxoplasmosis (Toxoplasma gondii), canine Neosporosis (Neospora caninum), and adjunct therapy for Babesiosis.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer orally strictly as directed by your veterinarian based on indication and body weight:

• Standard Clinical Dosage Rates:

  • Dental, Wound, & Soft Tissue Infections: 5.5 mg/kg body weight every 12 hours (or 11 mg/kg once daily) for 7 to 14 days (or up to 28 days for deep pyoderma).

  • Osteomyelitis (Bone Infections): 11 mg/kg body weight every 12 hours for a minimum of 28 consecutive days.

  • Toxoplasmosis / Neosporosis: 10 mg to 20 mg/kg body weight every 12 hours for 28 to 30 days under veterinary supervision.

• Administration Instructions:

  • Can be given directly by hand as a chewable treat or mixed with a small portion of daily food.

  • FELINE "DRY PILL" PRECAUTION: When administering solid clindamycin tablets directly to cats, always follow immediately with a small syringe of water (3–5 ml) or a spoonful of wet food. "Dry pilling" in cats can cause the tablet to lodge in the esophagus, leading to contact esophagitis and esophageal strictures.

  • Complete the Prescribed Course: Always finish the entire duration prescribed by your veterinarian. Premature discontinuation can lead to bacterial relapse and antimicrobial resistance.

Safety Warnings, Precautions & Storage

• Species Restrictions: Safe for dogs and cats. Do NOT administer to rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, chinchillas, or horses. Clindamycin suppresses normal caecal microflora in hindgut fermenters, causing fatal clostridial enterotoxemia.

• Hepatic & Renal Monitoring: Clindamycin is metabolized in the liver and excreted through bile and urine. Use with caution and perform periodic biochemical monitoring in animals with severe pre-existing hepatic or renal dysfunction.

• Adverse Effects: Generally well tolerated in canines and felines. Mild gastrointestinal effects (soft stools, occasional vomiting, reduced appetite) may occur. If severe persistent diarrhea develops, discontinue and consult your veterinarian.

• Drug Interactions: Do not administer concurrently with erythromycin or chloramphenicol, as they compete for the same 50S ribosomal binding site and antagonize each other's effects.

• Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture. Keep unused tablet halves sealed in the blister strip and use within 3 days. Keep strictly out of reach of children and household pets
