Uses / Indications

Toxo Mox may be prescribed by a veterinarian for susceptible bacterial infections, including:

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Pyoderma

• Wounds and abscesses

• Cellulitis and bacterial dermatitis

• Respiratory tract infections

• Pneumonia

• Urinary tract infections

• Gastrointestinal bacterial infections

• Dental and periodontal infections

• Post-surgical or wound infections

The appropriate antibiotic should be selected according to veterinary assessment and, where appropriate, diagnostic or culture results.

How It Works

Amoxycillin is a penicillin antibiotic that interferes with bacterial cell-wall synthesis.

Clavulanic Acid inhibits certain beta-lactamase enzymes produced by bacteria, helping protect Amoxycillin from enzymatic breakdown and extending its activity against susceptible beta-lactamase-producing bacteria.

Directions for Use

Toxo Mox Dry Syrup must be reconstituted before administration.

Add the sterile water supplied with the product to the dry powder bottle up to the marked level. Close the bottle and shake thoroughly until the suspension is uniform.

Administer orally according to your veterinarian's prescription.

The dose is determined according to the pet's body weight, type of infection and clinical condition. The supplied source mentions a general veterinary dosing range of 10–25 mg/kg, administered two to three times daily, but the veterinarian's specific prescription should always take precedence.

Use a calibrated oral syringe or measuring device for accurate dosing.

Administration

The reconstituted suspension can be:

• Administered directly into the side of the mouth using an oral syringe

• Mixed with a small quantity of food, provided the complete dose is consumed

Shake the bottle well before every dose.

Treatment Duration

Complete the entire course prescribed by the veterinarian, even if the pet appears to recover before treatment is finished.

Do not reuse leftover suspension for another illness without veterinary assessment.

Possible Side Effects

Possible adverse effects include:

• Vomiting

• Loose stools

• Diarrhoea

• Temporary reduction in appetite

• Antibiotic-associated gastrointestinal upset

Rarely, allergic reactions can occur. Signs such as facial swelling, hives, skin rash or difficulty breathing require immediate veterinary attention.

Important Precautions

• Use only under veterinary supervision.

• Do not use in pets with a known allergy to Amoxycillin, Clavulanic Acid or other penicillin-type antibiotics.

• Inform your veterinarian if your pet has kidney or liver disease.

• Tell your veterinarian about all other medicines your pet is receiving.

• This product is intended for dogs and cats and should not be given to rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hamsters, gerbils or prairie dogs.

Storage

Before reconstitution: Store the dry powder below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light.

After reconstitution: Refrigerate and use within 7 days.

Shake well before every administration.
