• Mechanism of Action:

  • Cytotoxic agents, inflammatory cytokines, and viral damage stimulate mucosal enterochromaffin cells in the pet’s gastrointestinal tract to release massive amounts of serotonin.

  • Serotonin binds to 5-HT3 receptors on local vagal nerve endings and central CTZ receptors in the area postrema.

  • Ondansetron blocks this binding with high specificity, shutting down the primary signals that trigger the vomiting reflex in the brainstem.

Dosage & Administration Guidelines

Administer strictly under veterinary prescription and guidance. Exact dosage and spray actuations must be calibrated based on the pet’s body weight.

• General Veterinary Dose Range:

  • Dogs: Typically 0.5 mg to 1.0 mg per kg body weight, administered every 8 to 12 hours (BID or TID) as needed.

  • Cats: Typically 0.22 mg to 0.5 mg per kg body weight, administered every 8 to 12 hours.

• Step-by-Step Spray Application:

  1. Shake the bottle well before use.

  2. Prime the pump if using for the first time by pressing the nozzle until a fine, consistent mist appears.

  3. Gently lift your pet’s lip and spray the prescribed number of actuations directly onto the buccal mucosa (inner cheek surface), under the tongue, or onto the gums.

  4. There is no need for the pet to swallow a liquid pool; mucosal vascular absorption begins immediately upon contact.

  5. For motion sickness or planned chemotherapy, administer 30 to 60 minutes prior to travel or treatment.
