• General Dosing Protocol:

  • Cats: Typically 5 mg to 10 mg/kg body weight once daily, or administered on standard pulse therapy regimens (e.g., 7 days on, 7 days off for 3 cycles) as prescribed for feline ringworm.

• Administration with Food:

  • Always administer with a meal or fatty snack (such as a spoonful of wet food, gravy, or a small piece of cheese) to optimize bile secretion and maximize drug uptake.

• Treatment Duration:

  • Superficial dermatophytosis/yeast infections typically require 2 to 4 weeks of continuous or pulse therapy.

  • Systemic fungal infections may require extended courses of several months.

  • Crucial Rule: Continue therapy until negative fungal cultures or clinical cytology clearance is confirmed by your vet. Do not terminate prematurely to prevent fungal recrudescence.

• Prescription Only: This is a potent systemic antifungal. A valid veterinary prescription is mandatory.

• Hepatic Function Monitoring: Itraconazole is metabolized by the liver. In patients undergoing prolonged courses (exceeding 4 weeks), periodic monitoring of liver enzyme levels (ALT/AST) is recommended.
